Chickasaw Talking Dictionary -
Product# 225B
This is a copy of a manuscript written by Albert S. Gatchet in 1889. A pronunciation guide has been provided by Various Indian Peoples Publishing Co. based on how the language is spoken today. In transcribing this text from micro-film discerning certain aspects of the writing was extremely difficult due to the author's penmanship style and the effect of the camera on the writings. However, comparison of this glossary with contemporary Chickasaw writings authenticates its value as a guide as to what the language was like before 1900.
